At Somali Fact-Check, our verification process is guided by transparency, accuracy, and rigorous evidence. We follow a transparent, structured methodology to assess public claims, official statements, online content, and widely shared narratives that may influence public understanding in Somalia.
We begin by identifying public-relevance claims, including those related to governance, politics, security, health, the economy, and viral social media content. Each claim is documented exactly as presented, with supporting records such as links, screenshots, or recordings to ensure accuracy and traceability.
We then gather evidence from reliable, accessible sources. These include official documents, government data, international organizations, subject-matter experts, academic research, open-source intelligence (OSINT), and on-the-ground verification where appropriate. All sources are evaluated for reliability, completeness, and appropriate context before use.
Each fact-check undergoes a multi-level editorial review. Editors examine the evidence, verify citations, and ensure the analysis is balanced, impartial, and free from unsupported assumptions. Where information is limited or inconclusive, this is clearly and transparently stated. All sources used are published to allow independent verification by the public.
Finally, every claim is assessed using a standardised verdict system that reflects its accuracy. When new information becomes available, our reports are updated promptly, with corrections or revisions clearly noted. This methodology ensures that Somali Fact-Check’s work remains accountable, accessible, and firmly grounded in verifiable facts supporting a more informed and resilient public.
